More About Robina, Gold Coast QLD
Robina is a suburb located in the City of Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. It was established in 1985 and is one of the first master-planned residential communities in Australia. As of the 2016 census, it had a population of 23,106 people. The suburb is home to the Robina Town Centre shopping centre, Bond University, Robina Stadium, and Robina Branch Library.
The suburb was developed by Singaporean real estate developer, Robin Loh, and local property developer, Arthur Earle. They purchased 20 square kilometers of land in the southern Gold Coast, which was previously used for grazing, and transformed it into the suburb of Robina. The development was spearheaded by the Robina Land Corporation, and Robina is now considered one of Australia’s most successful planned communities.
Robina is also home to one of the two public hospitals on the Gold Coast, the Robina Hospital, which was originally a private hospital and was purchased by Queensland Health in 2002. The hospital has since been expanded and is now the sixth largest in Queensland.
In terms of education, Robina houses several schools including Robina State School, Robina State High School, Arcadia College, and Australian Industry Trade College. Bond University also has its main campus at Robina.
Robina is well-connected with other parts of the Gold Coast through several arterial roads and has two main bus stations. The Gold Coast City Council has proposed future extensions of the Gold Coast Rapid Transit system to run from Robina to Nobby Beach.
The suburb is also home to Robina Stadium, which has a seating capacity of over 27,000 and meets the requirements of rugby league, football, and rugby union. The stadium is home to the Gold Coast Titans NRL team and the Queensland Country NRC team.
